About lACIE MARTINEZ
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lacie Martinez is a self-taught acrylic and watercolor painter born in Oklahoma and now residing in Granbury, Texas. Lacie has a background in apparel design and has received a bachelor's and master's in kinesiology. She accredits her unique academic combination for her visual art endeavors. She believes that understanding the anatomy and physiology of the human body, plus her obsession for fashion results in unique art pieces. In many of her paintings, you will see the human figure coupled with fashion and textiles. She is fascinated with accurately painting various textures, prints, and the drape and folds of fabric, plus correctly depicting the human body. Much like her personality, her work often features bold, bright colors balanced by a hint of neutrals.
more about the aRTIST JOURNEY
After studying both apparel design and kinesiology, she found a love for the challenge of painting realistic portraits and replicating various textured garments. Lacie has spent the last four years completing commissioned pieces while teaching Art at a public high school. Lacie shares her passion for art and creativity through teaching various levels of Art at a public high school. Freshly widowed and raising two young daughters, she felt compelled to create her debut body of work encompassing the often isolating low moments of motherhood contrasted with its incredible highs. Lacie fervently works to promote camaraderie between women by highlighting the connective threads of motherhood; from leaving the delivery room in padded mesh underwear, to the shock of postpartum hair loss, to the incredible miracle of welcoming a rainbow baby. She hopes every viewer leaves her artwork feeling either seen, connected, or highly appreciative of the superhero women within their lives.
